A general news update on things happening in my world and in yours… In this edition of my news update I bring information about a new website, the January 24th Photowalk, the Areia HDR Contest, and a few other little things. Check it out…
I think the biggest news that I have is my new martial arts blog went live this last weekend. This is one of the three secret projects that I have been working on lately. I have put a lot of work getting it ready for visitors and finally felt like it was time for it to go public. Just in case you didn’t already know, I have been training in various styles of the martial arts for many years and earned my 1st degree black belt under Mr. Robert Vanelli about 7 months ago. In case you are wondering I do speak of the same Robert Vanelli as the photographer who runs Exposure PAS and, as Scott Kelby calls him, the Unofficial Mascot of Photoshop World. If you’ve ever been to Photoshop world you know exactly why Scott calls him that!!
I started playing with some new SEO (search engine optimization) techniques to promote my blog and I went from an average of about 50 readers a day to an average of 215 readers each day for the last 5 days! That is one heck of a jump!
So you must be thinking, “Ok, so what?” right about now. Well, a higher reader base means that I can justify spending more time writing tutorials, writing more reviews on hardware and software, and things of that nature… you know, all the things that would make this blog a lot more useful to everyone who reads it! So stand by because I am going to post some good stuff this week just to get things started in the right direction for 2009…
As for the January 24th photowalk… one reader suggested downtown Eau Gallie as the location and I think it is a pretty good idea. There is a lot of different things in that area and it is considered to be an art district… So I bet the shop owners would be a lot more receptive to people walking around unlike the dive shop that Chris and I got the cold shoulder at during the downtown Melbourne photowalk. I will be doing a pre-walk later today and talking to some of the restaurant owners in that area so I should have solid word for you all on this later today or tomorrow.
My frozen friend from the great state of Rhode Island (Hali Sowle) recently got the photos from her Antigua vacation up. If you like wildlife or landscape photography then you really need to check out her blog and all her vacation photo pages. The photo below is one that I shamelessly stole the link to so I could entice you to go check her site out. While I am not one for plants or flowers I love the composition of that photo with the moon in the background. It is a killer shot!
The Ariea HDR Contest deadline is two and a half weeks away. You’ve still got plenty of time to download their free trial, go out and shoot some bracketed exposures, and create the winning HDR piece! The first place winner gets a brand new 15″ MacBook Pro… and it is free to enter so what do you have to lose? What would you do with the MacBook Pro if you win? Knowing my luck if I won it my daughter would talk me into giving it to her on the logic that I already have a nice MacBook Pro and her iBook needs an upgrade. I can never win it seems…
Do you use twitter? You can follow what I am doing on my twitter page or just watch the sidebar over to the right on this blog.
Well, I think that does it for this news post. Keep checking back over the next few days… big things are afoot!
