New Family Member

I completely forgot to mention in my news update post that, as of yesterday, we have a new addition to the family!
We adopted a Siberian Husky from the animal shelter yesterday. We named her Tala which is the Souix Indian word for “Red Wolf”.
The story of how we ended up with a new family member can be told in either the short version or the long version. In the spirit of Terry (meaning, I talk excessively) I am going to give both versions…
Long Version: My daughter and I went out shopping for a present to give my wife for Christmas and stopped to look at the puppies at the store in the Melbourne Square Mall. Many of them earned the “AWWWWW” treatment from Allyson and, to be honest, a few of them got the same treatment from me. Specifically the American Eskimo (yes, I am still talking about dogs and no, I had no idea there was a breed of dog called that) and the black lab. We moved on and continued to shop finding absolutely nothing to get my wife. So we left the mall and I don’t know whose idea it was (here is where I start looking extremely innocent when I tell the story in public) but we ended up at the animal shelter under strict rules by me that we are only going to look. We saw a 2 year old male Shepard that we really liked and played with him for a bit. His paperwork showed a love of chasing cats to the point of excessive but it didn’t matter because we were only there to look. Then we went around the corner and saw a beautiful 1 year 8 month old Siberian Husky just howling away wanting to play. In my head I had a flashback to a few days before when my wife and I were discussing how much we both love Siberian Husky’s. We got her out to play and she was playful and very sweat. My daughter fell in love. I did too. I called my wife to feel out how she would feel if we got another dog and the results were pretty favorable… those being that she was at work and too busy to talk and so forth. Well… technically she didn’t say no! Twenty minutes of paperwork combined with trying to keep an 8 year old girl from dancing in a crowded room since she knew we were taking home a dog and… we drove away with our new girl in the car.
Short Version: I love dogs and I suck at saying no.
Expect more photos of Tala soon. She has one brown eye and one blue eye that I think will make really cool subject matter for photos. If I can get her to sit still that is… apparently training was not on her previous owners list of things to do!!
And just for the record I did clear it with my wife first and she adores Tala as well. So I am in the clear on this one!
