Canon 5D Rocks!

With the recent drop in price on the Canon 5D I decided to make the upgrade from the 20D. I love my 20D but who can say no to a Canon 5D upgrade? I will post more about the new camera and my opinion on it after I shoot with it more this weekend. In the mean time, I’ll give you a few images from the first shoot that I did with it (a few hours after it arrived, of course). I also drew a quick diagram to show the layout that I used. It was a pretty fast set up… we were racing the sunset and wanted to shoot from frames before we ran out of light. We went down by the river, threw a stand up, grabbed the reflector, and started clicking.
The diagram below shows the general set up that I used. I had my Speedlight 580 hot shoed and pointed at the gold reflector. My Speedlight 550 was on a lightstand about 8 feet away off to camera right. Both photos were taken with the Canon 5D at f/7.1, 1/60, ISO400, @ 130mm.
If I re-shot the same photos I would move the Speedlight 550 either further behind her head or more towards the front. Most likely backwards to give more of a back light instead of a side light.

Beautiful! I like the side lighting, it gives a great mood which you don’t always get from backlight.
